Peer supervision is a vital part of ethical, effective mental health practice, and Bravely Connect makes it easy to set up and manage.
This guide covers two key workflows:
Note: This article focuses on supervision within a shared clinic account. For solo users, see the note in the final section for guidance.
Part 1: Assigning a Supervisor to Review Notes
Supervision often involves reviewing a therapist’s clinical notes to ensure quality of care, support growth, or meet regulatory requirements. In Bravely, you can assign supervisors to specific practitioners so they can securely access and review their client notes, without being able to edit them.
Go to the client's dashboard
Click on Setup tab (left sidebar)
On the Practitioner(s) page (1st tab)
Click Add next to the practitioner you’d like to assign a supervisor to
Select the team member you want to assign as the supervisor
Once assigned, the supervisor will:
✅ See the client on their list
✅ Be able to read all notes written by the supervised practitioner
❌ Not be able to edit, add, or delete records
Part 2: Booking & Managing Supervision Sessions
Supervision sessions can be scheduled and billed with BravelyPay just like regular client sessions. This can be done by setting up the supervisee as a client of their supervisor.
To create a new session type, see this guide (Admin Plus or Director permissions required).
Should I create a ‘Supervision Session’ type?
Yes — we recommend it. A dedicated session type helps:
Keep records clear and separate from client work
Set appropriate rates and billing rules
Avoid confusion when reporting or filtering appointments

This setup is separate from clinical note supervision and can be used independently.
How to Add a Supervisee as a Client
To set up session bookings between a supervisor and supervisee:
The supervisor creates a new client profile using the supervisee’s email and sends an invite to Bravely Home.
The supervisee can log in using the same credentials they use for Bravely Connect.
If self-booking is enabled, supervisees can book sessions with their supervisor through Bravely Home.
Supervisors can use the session note field to record summaries for each supervision.
This flexible setup allows clinics — and individual supervisors — to support ethical, well-documented supervision with minimal friction.
📌 Note for Solo Practitioners
Solo accounts in Bravely don’t include internal supervision tools, since they’re designed for individual practitioners. If you’d like a supervisor to access your notes within Bravely, you’ll need to upgrade to a clinic plan.
That said, solo users still have options:
Discuss your notes together in person or via screenshare
Copy and paste the session content for review
Or, set up your supervisor to use Bravely Home, as described above, for managing session bookings and invoices
